On the morning of Divine Mercy Sunday, April 16, 2023, the Lord called our very dear Deschenault Clermont back to Him... Born March 21, 1938, Deschenault has touched many lives with his warmth, his compassion and his generosity.
Deschenault, whom many nicknamed "Mèt La" "Ton No", or "Desch", lived 85 beautiful years during which he was a loving father, a tender husband, a sincere friend, a welcoming and encouraging uncle, a wise adviser, an affectionate grandfather and great grandfather and so much more! He also had his particular nicknames which he affectionately gave to us. He always had a special word for everyone.
He also led a well-rounded professional career. His life in Jérémie was marked by his involvement in education, mainly as a teacher and then director of a rural school; educational advisor and administrator; in the health as administrator for Hopital Saint-Antoine and the for health district of Grand-Anse. He was even mayor of Jeremie, albeit briefly. Deschenault retired to Port-au-Prince where he developed strong friendships in the village of Carradeux.
Desch enjoyed going on walks, doing wordsearch games, gardening, playing dominoes, and gratifying us with his spontaneous laughter (Sitou lè li fè de kabès!!) While we remember Deschenault's life, we celebrate his love, the joy and the laughter he brought to all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
In this time of mourning, we honor his memory and the legacy he left behind. May his soul rest forever in peace.
