The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Phoebe Badeer can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

When my birthday passed without a card from Phoebe with 85 hand-drawn candles (a Phoebe tradition), I realized we hadn't talked in a while. Then Nancy called with the news that she had passed. I am so sorry. She was Patty's first, and closest, friend in Smithtown. Our lives were intertwined with Phoebe's and Rab's for 45 years. In 1983 we tried to persuade Rab that the Adirondacks were too far away for a vacation home, but after he insisted on buying the "lake house", we trailed along up there numerous times and then bought our own house across the street. Dinners together, consignment shop forays, game nights with glasses of wine, boating adventures - lots of adventures together. So many memories, mostly happy, but some sad. "Take a zero, bub!" - Phoebe would say over a contested word in the heat of a Scrabble game. My condolences to the family - I know you all have similar memories to comfort you. We have all lost a dear part of our lives, but Phoebe is at peace.
