Obituary for Debra A. Canning

Debra A. Canning
Debra Ann Canning (née Smith) of Smithtown, New York passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at the age of 67. She was surrounded by her family after courageously battling many health conditions.

After having twins, Debbie was a brilliant stay-at-home mom, as well as an active member of the Mothers of Twins Club. She was very involved in school functions, and lead the Girl Scout Troop for many years. The Smithtown School District was subsequently lucky to gain Debbie as an employee in several capacities. She enjoyed her second career before retiring in 2017 to spend time with her granddaughters and multitude of friends. We know she is enjoying her glass of Pinot Grigio in heaven, watching over us all and continuing to send her insightful advice.

Debbie is predeceased by her beloved parents, Joan and John Smith. She is survived by her devoted husband John, daughters Janine Bacarella (Bryan) and Michelle Furco (Eric), four beautiful granddaughters Kiera, Danielle, Joanna and Melanie, brother Glenn (Kathy), and several sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of the flowers, please consider making a donation to the John Ritter Foundation.
