Obituary for Elsie Mullan

Elsie  Mullan
Elsie Mullan was born Elsie Valentine on June 3, 1942 in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was the middle child of her father, Juan Valentine and mother, Adelina Valentine. Her elder brother was Juan Valentine Jr. and her younger sister was Nancy Valentine. In 1947, she moved with her family to Manhattan, NY where she grew up and attended Mary Help of Christian Academy. After graduating high school, she attended a business college where she met the love of her life, future husband and father to her 3 children, Thomas James Mullan.

She and Tom dated for 2 years and married on May 26, 1962 in Manhattan. In 1963, they purchased their first home in the Wakefield section of the Bronx where they started their family.

On January 26, 1964, they welcomed their first child, Linda Ann Mullan. On January 15, 1965, they welcome their second child, Thomas James Mullan III. Shortly thereafter, they built a home in Nesconset, NY and moved their family to Long Island. On September 23, 1977, they welcomed their third child, Daniel Patrick Mullan.

They thrived in a long and loving marriage. Their family grew during their time in NY. In August of 1990, they moved in to their new home in Cape Coral, Florida where she lived until the passing of Tom on April 13, 2010, just shy of their 48th wedding anniversary. She moved back to Smithtown, NY and lived out her remaining years with her daughter, Linda and her husband, Earle.

She is survived by her:

3 children: Linda Wilson, Thomas James Mullan III & Daniel Patrick Mullan

7 grandchildren: Jessica Costa, Earle Wilson, Kristian Mullan, Tyler Mullan, Kyle Mullan, Daniel Mullan & Dylan Mullan

4 great-grandchildren: Joshua Costa, Caleb Costa, Lia Wilson & Isabella Costa

Elsie was a loving, caring, generous, tender daughter, sister, wife, sister-in-law, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be greatly missed. Her memory and legacy will live on in her family and friends.

We love you and we know that you are at peace in Heaven with your beloved husband and family.
