Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Manuel Capella can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Manuel B. Capella

Manuel B.  Capella
Manuel B. Capella was born March 21, 1944 in Aquadilla, Puerto Rico to Manuel & Aida Capella. Beloved husband of Elsa Capella. Loving father of Lisa (Steven) Peragallo, Cesar (Juli) Capella and Jennifer (Kevin Brown) Capella. Cherished grandfather of Nicolas, Julia, Maria, Jayden, Mackenzie, Gabrielle, Ana and Lila. Adored brother of Jeanette, Jose, George and Miguel Capella.
In 1946 he moved to Brooklyn with his family. His parents had an additional four children and they all grew up in Brooklyn. He graduated from George Westinghouse High School of Career and Technical Education in Brooklyn, New York in 1962.
He began his Electrical career with IBEW Local #3 in 1963 where spent the next 40 years in the trade. He worked on some historic construction projects including the 1964 New York World’s Fair in Queens, NY, The World Trade Center, Lefrak City and the MetLife Building (originally named the PanAm Building).
‘Manny’ as his friends called him was married to Elsa on Oct. 16th, 1965. Together they raised three children – Lisa, Cesar & Jennifer. When their family was young, Manny & Elsa moved out to Long Island to raise their family in Huntington Station. Over the years their family grew to include 8 grandchildren. Manny always believed in family first and was always surrounded by family and friends. He will forever be remembered as a giving person who helped everyone and gave freely of his time and talents.
